Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at the Ellie’s ‘The 11 List’ website.
Ellie is 11 years old. She likes to do all the sorts of things that girls of that age do, which includes drawing and painting, playing computer games, makeup, dancing and many other things. Her biggest passion at the moment is for One Direction. The 1D posters that adorn her bedroom wall are a testament to that.
Ellie has Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, (CMT Organisation). It is also known as hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy. It’s wastage of the muscles in the lower part of the arms and legs because the peroneal nerves, which are the nerves that extend out from the spinal chord to the lower extremities, aren’t telling the muscles what to do. This results is muscle wastage. The muscles themselves are ok but if they’re not getting any signal from the nerves the muscles will eventually waste away.
Ellie is still walking but tires easily. She has already had major surgery on both her legs to try and straighten the ankles and this has worked but as Ellie gets older she knows the muscles will deteriorate further. But Ellie is determined not to let it beat her.
